The Solar Homes Program in Victoria, Australia, is offering rebates of up to $1,400 for the installation of solar panel (PV) systems for eligible households. To be eligible for the rebate, applicants must meet specific criteria. They must be the owner of an existing property or a home under construction valued at under $3 million, have a combined household taxable income of less than $180,000 per year, have not previously received a solar battery or PV rebate under the Solar Homes Program, and do not have an existing solar PV system.
The Solar Victoria Portal triggers the online process for eligibility assessment once the authorized solar provider uploads the quote. Upon confirmation of eligibility, the retailer will claim the rebate on the applicant’s behalf and deduct the rebate amount from the total cost of the system. The applicant will then pay the outstanding balance directly to the retailer once the solar panels are installed.
Typical households can save up to $1073 per year on their electricity bills when they install solar panels. The program is also offering a solar hot water rebate to new and existing solar PV customers who meet the eligibility criteria.
Homes under construction can also apply for the rebate and interest-free loan, allowing them to save on installation costs and start saving with solar as soon as they move in. To apply, the builder’s consent is required for the solar installation to occur during the build. Applicants must provide a Council Rates Notice or a copy of the Certificate of Title to demonstrate property ownership.
